  • Camera Settings: 28mm | 1/1600s | f/4.5 | ISO100
  • Comments: Belgian aviation enthusiasts were once again treated to a nice surprise on August 31st 2016 as Hekla Aurora, an Icelandair Boeing 757 wearing a stunning aurora borealis livery to promote Iceland as a stopover destination, was operating flight FI554 KEF-BRU. Here’s a photo as the aircraft is few moments away from landing on RWY 25L at Brussels Airport.

  • Comments: Landing RWY 25R. The photo was first edited in Adobe Camera Raw. Final editing was done in Adobe Photoshop CC. I also used Silver Efex Pro, one of the numerous plug-ins of the Google Nik Collection, an amazing set of desktop image editing plug-ins that Google is offering free of charge since March 2016.

  • Comments: The circumzenithal arc is an optical phenomenon that looks like a rainbow but turned upside down. It occurs as sunlight is refracted through ice crystals in high level clouds such as cirrus or cirrostratus.

  • Comments: A sundog (scientific name: parhelion) is an optical phenomenon that occurs as sunlight is refracted through ice crystals in high level clouds such as cirrus or cirrostratus. Sundogs typically appear in pairs and can be seen as two subtle coloured patches of light to the left and right of the Sun, at the same elevation above the horizon as the Sun. They are often co-occuring with a luminous ring, the 22° halo.
