  • Comments: Brussels Airlines & Foundation Magritte organised a special #SNMagritte event to unveil this unique flying piece of art, dedicated to the famous Belgian artist René Magritte. Following in the footsteps of Rackham, the Tintin aircraft that the airline unveiled last year, this Airbus is the second aircraft in a series of Brussels Airlines planes with a special design, inspired by Belgian icons. The plane, baptized Magritte, is a 37m long flying piece of art that has come to life thanks to a close cooperation between Brussels Airlines and the Foundation Magritte. The design of the aircraft was created by three young Belgian designers, working in the Brussels Airlines marketing team. The painting of the aircraft was realized by airbrush artist Andre Eisele, who previously had also worked on Rackham. The entire paint job took place in the painting facilities of Eirtech in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

  • Comments: On Tuesday 22 March 2016, a devastating terrorist attack struck Belgium’s capital city of Brussels. In a coordinated terrorist murder plot, two bombs exploded in the departure hall of Brussels Airport. One hour later, a third bomb exploded in the Maalbeek metro station in the city of Brussels. In total, 32 innocent people were killed and more than 340 got injured.I was driving on the airport access road near the departure hall shortly after the attacks began, but was fortunate enough not to be injured. Yet, seeing countless passengers crying and running in panic, away from the terminal, left a very deep impression on me. I was able to evacuate an elderly Italian couple who were about to depart to Rome. They were very thankful.I can only try to imagine the pain and grief of those who lost their loved ones on that dramatic Tuesday morning. With this photo of the main departure hall, a photo taken in December 2013, I would like to pay tribute to all victims of these horrendous attacks.

That concludes this episode. I hope you enjoyed reading.
