The aircraft, OO-DWD, was the last Avro in the Brussels Airlines fleet and was returned to the lessor in November 2017. The end of an era for the airline. A total of 1.200 visitors had the unique opportunity to step behind the scenes of air traffic control as it is performed at and around Brussels Airport and in the skies over Belgium. They could choose between two different guided tours. One took them along the CANAC 2 national air traffic control centre, from where air traffic overflying Belgium is managed. The second tour took the Belgocontrol guests up in the air traffic control tower for a visit to the meteorological service and straight to the top of the tower, where they could see how Belgocontrol guarantees air traffic safety at and around Brussels Airport. This photo depicts the wide view air traffic controllers have from the tower and highlights a panoramic overview of Pier A, Pier B and the Connector building at Brussels Airport.
