Welcome to another edition of  ‘A Brief Look At My Flickr Photos’.  I will review some of the photos I uploaded to Flickr during the past month. For each photo I will share the following information:

  • Subject
  • Location
  • Date & Time
  • Equipment
  • Camera Settings
  • Comments

In a nutshell, I hope these posts will not only help you to appreciate some of my Flickr photos, but will hopefully also assist you in becoming a better photographer yourself.

Now, let’s get started by reviewing some of my Flickr photos I uploaded in November 2018, shall we?

Aurora Borealis – Iceland – 2018 03 18 – 01 – Copyright © 2018 Ivan Coninx

  • Subject: Aurora Borealis
  • Location: Iceland
  • Date & Time: March 18th 2018 – 00:05 LT
  • Equipment: Canon EOS 7D Mk II | Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM | Lowepro Flipside 400 AW
  • Camera Settings: 10mm | 10s | f/3.5 | ISO1600
  • Comments: First time I got to see the Aurora Borealis with my own eyes.

Svínafellsjökull – Iceland – 2018 03 16 – 04 – Copyright © 2018 Ivan Coninx

  • Subject: Svínafellsjökull
  • Location: Iceland
  • Date & Time: March 16th 2018 – 14:08 LT
  • Equipment: Canon EOS 7D Mk II | Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM | Lowepro Flipside 400 AW
  • Camera Settings: 105mm | 1/125s | f/7.1 | ISO100
  • Comments: Svínafellsjökull is an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull, the largest ice cap in Europe and located in the Skaftafell Nature Reserve on the South Coast of Iceland. The views when walking near this glacier are simply breathtaking and second to none. I have never been amazed by the beauty of such a massive glacier tongue. Unfortunately, climate change is already taking its toll, as the size of Svínafellsjökull diminishes year after year.

Diamond Beach – Iceland – 2018 03 16 – 06 – Copyright © 2018 Ivan Coninx

  • Date & Time: March 16th 2018 – 11:52 LT
  • Equipment: Canon EOS 7D Mk II | Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM | Lowepro Flipside 400 AW
  • Camera Settings: 82mm | 1/30s | f/9.0 | ISO100
  • Comments: The Diamond Beach near the glacier lagoon of Jökulsárlón is one of the most unique sites that Iceland has to offer. Once you reach the beach, you immediately notice why it is called ‘Diamond Beach’: the pitch black lava sand beach is covered with dozens of ‘diamonds’: small and big chunks of ice in different shapes. The structure of the ice is truly unique, giving these ice chunks a diamond look. If you ever plan a visit to Iceland, the Diamond Beach is a must see, together with the glacier lagoon of Jökulsárlón.

Sólfar – Reykjavik, Iceland – 2018 03 13 – 02 – Copyright © 2018 Ivan Coninx

  • Subject: Sólfar
  • Location: Reykjavik, Iceland
  • Date & Time: March 13th 2018 – 19:23 LT

  • Camera Settings: 60mm | 1/40s | f/4.5 | ISO500
  • Comments: Sólfar or ‘Sun Voyager’ is a sculpture to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the city of Reykjavik. It was designed by Icelandic artist Jón Gunnar Árnason as a dreamboat, an ode to the sun symbolizing light and hope. Sólfar is located next to the Sæbraut road in the city of Reykjavik and is a popular place for photographers, especially during sunset.
